Ion getter pump (IGP)

The ion getter pump is a special type of vacuum pump. The functional principle of the pump is based on the ionization of residual gas particles (atoms or molecules). Here, the particles are ionized by colliding with electrons in an electric field and are accelerated onto a surface where the charged particles are trapped.

The ion getter pump can only be used in an existing high vacuum and achieves vacuum values in the ultra-high vacuum (UHV) range.
